Hotels In Dunbartonshire & Loch Lomond
Not just about Loch Lomond, but the Campsies (great hill walking), Gareloch and Loch Long – and the upper Clyde estuary too.
From the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond, which fall within the boundaries of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, to Helensburgh’s elegant promenades and the shipping heritage of the Clyde, celebrated throughout West Dunbartonshire, there is something for every visitor – form the broad, island-dotted shallows in the south gradually narrowing and steepening into the mountains of the “Arrochar Alps” dominated by the Cobbler in the West and mighty Ben Lomond to the East.
Expect: Busy roads especially in main season, lots of craft and tourist shops, marinas – and a superlative golf course. The Loch Lomond area is actually more about fame and scenery – being there, rather than things to do and places to visit.
Best for: Watersports, superb hill walking and easy climbing, The West Highland Way, romantic breaks and escapes, and a great first stop on a tour of Scotland.
Typical hotels you’ll find: Very few Dunbartonshire hotels outwith the Loch Lomond honeypot – surprisingly few there too but the ones that are range from middle budget and quality range, to absolutely superb.
