Home to the Dewars Centre where you can enjoy curling, ice hockey or ice skating. Has a lovely small racecourse, in the grounds of famous Scone Palace. Superb scenery, castles, history, walks and attractions in the superlative country around it – Perthshire – ‘all of Scotland’, making Perth an excellent destination base.

Expect: Lots of excellent restaurants, good shops and plenty of them, farmers’ markets, good pedestrian areas/precincts, not much for families.

Best for: Destination base, golf breaks, attending Perth Mart and the Bull Sales, Perth Races hotel breaks and packages, theatre and shopping breaks.

Typical Perth hotels: All middle/budget range in the city, the only 4 star hotels are on the outskirts.
